Our first CO2 Challenge of the year
Our first CO2 Challenge of 2013 was a great success! Thank you everyone who participated by either competing or volunteering!
I initially woke up at 4am at the sound of thunder and rain and started worrying about the weather. It was raining hard and I started to think, “Oh why does it have to be today and what if nobody shows up for the event?” Then I realized that it was truly up to me and my outlook to make the event still a success, rain or not. No rain or dirt/mud ever stopped us from playing outside and having fun when we were younger, so why should it stop now? Besides people pay $30-$40 for a local mud runs, so this will be a screaming deal for the participants at only $25 per team of 2!
The challenge started at 10AM at the Huguenot Park, and we were all PUMPED to start the challenge:
The rain had stopped and we had series of activities that challenged the teams’ body and mind, PLUS their ability to work together.
And the winners of the challenge were:
Team Dynamic Duo – Jen & Stephanie
Team Apollo – Tanaka & Carl (only 2 seconds behind the first place)
Now for personal reflection. What I learned from the challenge:
1) Working in teams really bring out the best of you.
2) Some of us really suck at math problems. I won’t name names, but wow, friends, just wow… EXCEPT for this team:
3) It’s amazing to have friends who always come through for you and support you. I could not have done it without my wonderful friends who actually VOLUNTEERED to be the CO2 Challenge coaches:
4) My amazingly supportive husband does an awesome job of emceeing the event, complete with a very inspiring speech during the award presentation.
